My world, my life, my anchor

I'm taking a quick break from my normal sessions to share a personal post, of course related to my new baby because what else would I possibly be posting about a month after he was born? I developed a passion for photography in high school when we had to choose an art elective to fill our 7th class. I forget what the rest of the options were (clay, woodworking, and a few others), but I knew I loved taking pictures and I wanted to learn more about the art behind the photo. Back then, I had a film camera (it was a Canon that my uncle gave me for Christmas one year) and we had a dark room across the hall (those were the days, right?!) Ever since, I vowed to never stop taking pictures, which eventually led me to where I am now.
Portraits are my main passion, but it's not always just about people. There are places we love going, things we love doing, and sights we love seeing that I don't want to forget. One of those things is my baby's nursery. I spent years thinking about how I'd want to decorate my first baby's bedroom, even before he was conceived. I've always had a passion for the beach (I was engaged and married on the beach!) and cruises are one of my favorite vacations. I guess you can say I didn't choose the nautical vibe, the nautical vibe chose me!
My husband and I are both very much "planners". We knew what we wanted our wedding to be before we got engaged and we knew we would find out the gender of our baby as soon as we could. We started planning the nursery pretty much the second we told our family and friends the news and it was finished months ahead of his arrival! Little did I know he wouldn't actually be sleeping in it in his first few months of life (hopefully not longer!) I just love how it came out and thought I'd share some of the details!
