Fall family session with a SURPRISE!

Lauren and her family originally came to me 2 seasons ago for fall family portraits and I just loved working with them so much! She and her husband have 2 adorable little boys who were so fun to photograph, so I was so excited when Lauren reached back out to get some updated portraits (with a twist!) Their boys are now 2 and 5 so you can imagine the challenges that might come with trying to photograph 2 little tornados. Luckily, Lauren was on board with capturing some candid, lifestyle images as well which I love capturing. I love a good clean posed image, but there's also just something about freezing that natural moment in time where families are just being themselves and pretending I'm not there.
For our session we went back to Benson Park in Hudson (it also helps there's an actual kid's park there, for bribery purposes). I love this park for a few reasons, but mostly because it offers such variety in backdrops that we can get lots of variety in a short time period, but also offers enough walking areas to help kids burn off some energy in between areas.
I already mentioned I love working with this family, but Lauren made it even better the last time around when she told me she wanted to surprise her older son during our session (scroll down to see what the surprise was!) Not only did I get to witness the face of pure joy on a 5 year old, but I got to photograph the moment and freeze it in time for the family for all the years to come. That's why I love doing what I do!

Now for the best part of the session! Mom let me know that she was surprising her older son with a trip to... drum roll please... DISNEY WORLD!! How awesome is that!? So, not only did I get to have fun photographing this awesome family again, but I got to be a part of what every kid wants to hear - "We're going to Disney!" - now, I think I need to plan a trip for my family...

If you don't make that face after you've been told you're going to Disney, are you even going to Disney?
