Baby Mason's winter newborn session

Just before Christmas, I had the honor of photographing baby Mason's newborn session. I met his parents, Allison and Brian, a while back when I photographed their baby shower and maternity photos (check out my featured blog posts to see Allison's Maternity session!) I absolutely love having repeat clients; after the first session I already felt like we knew each other and the whole family was such a pleasure to work with!

On a cold December day, Allison, Brian, Gabby and Casey came to visit with baby Mason. Can I just say these girls are so amazing with their little brother? I'm pretty sure I'm going to have them on my baby-sitter list in a few years once they get older and I have kids of my own! The love they have for their brother poured out of their hearts almost as warmly as the 80 degree space heater keeping Mason cozy.

Since we were shooting on a Patriots Football Sunday (might as well be a holiday here in New England), we started off with some family shots so that dad and the girls could hang out and watch the game while mom and I cuddled (and photographed) Mason.

After we did the family shots, Mason got hungry and we took a short break to fill his belly and change his diaper. He's a growing boy, after all, and if anyone knows the feeling of being hangry it's definitely me! After eating, Mason decided he wasn't really feeling like going back to sleep any time soon, so our plan for naked baby pictures was a bit thwarted. We discovered, however, that baby Mason thoroughly enjoyed being swaddled so we resorted back to a nice bundle. Since dad was in the Marines (big thanks to all our military personnel) and is a Police Officer, they wanted to capture a few of these themes in the photographs.

Since we were only a few weeks before Christmas, we decided at the end to do a few festive photos to celebrate the holidays. I had a piece of adorable wrapping paper left over (yes, that's wrapping paper!) that I thought would make an adorable floor drop (it totally did). Mom came fully equipped with a matching lumberjack hat (note: we did not coordinate this, and actually almost didn't think of the hat until one of the girls remembered) and an adorable crotched reindeer antler hat.

If there was ever a cuter lumberjack or reindeer baby, I've never seen him. Mason, you were such a dream baby and I can't wait to take more photos as you grow. Just don't grow too fast, because you're way too adorable as a baby!
