Kimberlee's winter family session

Kimberlee reached out to me for family photos, thanks to a referral from a friend, at the end of the fall season. Most of my business at the moment comes from word of mouth and referrals, so I'm always ecstatic to hear when clients loved their photos so much they recommend me to a friend (thanks Kim!) Since the leaves had mostly fallen, we knew the location had to be unique so we could get great family photos without a drab background.
We were picking out different locations and Kimberlee suggested a place called Wagon Hill Farm. I had never been, but Googled some images and it looked awesome! It was a bit of a drive for both of us, but she knew she wanted something different, but not necessarily too winter-esque. We took the gamble and met up on a cold, but beautiful, sunny morning in early December. Wagon Hill Farm is owned by the town of Durham, NH and is home to butterfly habitats, conservation land, and much more.
When Kimberlee and her family showed up, I knew I was in for a treat when she was accompanied by her husband and two boys, one of whom is 16. If you haven't hung out with a 16 year old boy lately, they're not easily amused by anything that's not Snap Chat or video games. Luckily, I was able to find out that he has a girlfriend and I may have used that "against" him to eek out a few chuckles. I think it worked?

I was able to have a few minutes to walk around the farm first to locate some photo-worthy spots, however the farm was so big it was nearly impossible to see all it had to offer before we started shooting. Luckily, we saw some people walking towards the same direction and took a gamble, and we were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful fenced area with a lake!

Since it was freezing outside, we headed back towards the cars and did a few last photos over by the wagon on the hill. After all, the name of the farm is Wagon Hill Farm, so how could we not use this awesome wagon for pictures? This was apparently the third (or maybe more?) wagon they've had here on the hill, as the others before had gotten too damaged. The farm had changed owners at some point, and the new owners decided to keep replacing the wagon as it had become a popular landmark. I forget the rest, but you can look up its history or take a visit if you're in NH!

Thanks, Kimberlee, for an amazing session and for braving the cold with me!
