Back in July I had the pleasure of photographing an old high school friend's maternity portraits. Since I just finished her baby's newborn portraits (SQUEEEEE, such a squishy little bub!) I thought now's a good time to throw back to their amazing pre-baby session! I had just bought a gorgeous maternity dress (Sew Trendy Accessories) and was lucky enough that she was the perfect amount of pregnant to model it for me! This is her second pregnancy and her oldest son, Devin, came along with her husband, Greg, to do a few family shots. They were both such good sports!
We set our sights on Winnikinni Castle in Haverhill, MA because this Disney loving mama really wanted to look like a princess! When we showed up, there was a wedding take place at the castle so, unfortunately, we weren't able to shoot there... womp womp. But I was able to scope out a few locations within the park that seemed simple enough to make her the star, so that she still felt like a princess. Plus, this family is very much into nature so that was a win-win for us!

After a little more exploring we found this really cool fallen tree. Most people would just see a fallen tree and keep walking, because what's cool about a tree that is no longer standing? And what type of pictures could you possibly take near a broken tree? But of course I saw more and was happy that they played along to see my vision out ;)

Almost done at this point, I saw a little "island" down by the water and hesitated even pointing it out because it did not seem particularly safe from where I was standing... but low and behold mom, dad, and Devin were already on their way over assuring me not to worry because I could tell they knew where I was going with it (and also, it somehow reminded Devin of a space island...whatever that means!)

And I don't know about you, but castle or not I still think this mama rocked the whole princess look!
