bourque family session | newburyport, ma

There's something about Newburyport that just speaks to me... I don't know if it's the ocean (I'm a huge beach fan), the quaint streets and historical brick buildings, the people and their small businesses, or the fact that all of the above culminates so perfectly in one beautiful location. So, naturally, when this family reached out to have some portraits done, Newburyport was the perfect location. Multiple backdrops within a few blocks from each other makes for a fun (and efficient) family session, especially when teenage boys are involved 😂

Which reminds me to remind you all of an important public service announcement: your family is never too old for portraits! Often times when people think of family photos they assume with babies and/or small children. That's usually true, too, because those moments, for whatever reason, seem more important to us to document. I bet if you Google "family photos", you'll mostly find younger parents together with their small (and likely uncooperative) children. As a matter of fact, I just Googled that exact thing and found exactly that... so with that said, please don't forget about your grown children (and/or your parents and grandparents) too. Just because your kids are in high school or college or you feel like you look too old for pictures, doesn't mean you shouldn't get to remember those important moments too! And no, I won't Photoshop all your "wrinkles" out, because you probably don't have any yet and if you do, you've earned them!

Ok, back to the subject at hand here which is to share with you all my favorite photos from this family session! Both Kyla and Braydon were older than your typical uncooperative children family photos, which was nice because they'll actually listen (for the most part) 😉 And might I add, this family is ridiculously good-looking so I was so happy to be able to give them some new mantle-candy!

Bonus points for Kayla, who wanted a few solo portraits and absolutely killed it. I have a feeling you'll be seeing more of her in the future, either on America's Next Top Model or at least on my website (same thing, right?)

Thanks Bourque family for being great models and I hope you enjoy your photos as much as I do!
