Back in July, I had the pleasure of photographing a former colleague of mine and her beautiful family - she and I have stayed touch through Facebook over the past few years since working together and I was excited when she reached out to ask me to capture the special moments in her family's life! Her daughter, Coraline, was just about to turn two and Kara wanted some family portraits to freeze this moment in time.
We headed to Maudslay State Park in Newburyport intending to find some pretty ocean backdrops, but after about 10 minutes of walking and almost stepping on horse poop on several occasions I landed on this super cute bridge while the sun was glowing beautifully.

Coraline was such a peach and was just about the opposite of camera shy! She was having a blast and even got to play peek-a-boo with daddy for a few minutes.

Mom left a lipstick smooch on Coraline and, naturally, I had to make sure I caught it before it got wiped off!

Coraline was such a great sport and absolutely killed it, cheesing for the camera pretty much every time I asked! Before she could say she's had enough, we switched into some more casual gear and headed back towards the cars, stopping at a spot by the fields for some love filled lifestyle portraits. These are my favorite because kids don't always want to pose, and it's just beautiful to see raw love between parents and their child(ren).

These two photos are some of my favorite from the session; I love how relaxed everyone is while simply enjoying each other's company! Some of my favorite sessions and photos are when I can get everyone to pretend like I'm not even there :)

This night was also incredible special for me on a personal level; I was so ecstatic and happy knowing I got so many good shots and can't wait to show them so was generally in a great mood. Then to my surprise, went to the beach for dinner on what started as a rainy night, but ended with a perfectly firework-lit sky and an engagement ring on my finger! To this day, I'll always treasure this day and this shoot because one way or another, it led to the first day of the rest of my life.
